This is the parts list my 13YO son created for his (and my) first time build, so any suggestions would be great.

Budget: $600; Location: N'awlins USA; Use: video editing; gaming (noob but into minecraft now) and general use/homework; Peripherals: Already have 2 ASUS 17" monitors and all the software, but will need keyboard, mouse, and speakers; OS: Win 8.1; Form/size: any.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Well a few things need to be addressed here. First off the CPU is pretty bad. Don't get fooled into thinking just because it's a intel it's going to be great. AMD make more affordable and nice performance CPUs. About the ram. I would recommend getting two sticks of 4gbs ram. I'm not 100% sure that it's better to have two separate sticks but it seems logical. Two different units clocked at 1600mhz working together vs 1 unit at 1600mhz. Again not 100% but all the gaming pc builds i watch they NEVER use 1 stick. I would recommend considering this build. It will allow you to run games at high-ultra settings without a sweat. A bit over your budget but it's worth it. http://pcpartpicker.com/user/Knowledge/saved/VmYQzy

Also check out YouTube for some great builds.
