Really unsure about cases

I'd like to budget about $100 give or take for a case. There seems to be so many options and since I'm a first time builder I have no idea what any of the pros or cons are to cases. I'll show you some of the ones I'm looking at currently...

A big question I have is, if it's worth getting something like an NZXT 440 with no optical display drive? I already dropped like 25 bucks on a drive, but I can pick up an external for another 25 no problem so I'm just wondering if the 440 is that much worth it to go through that hassle. Another thing to keep in mind is that the easier the installation the better. I'm a noob so I would prefer to avoid crazy set-up features. Lastly I want maximum performance (cooling first priority)

Cap,

or..... Corsair Carbide 540. Slightly over your budget (UK £96) but just got one and very very impressed. You need to be comfortable with the concept... its fat.

Great air flow and room for water cooling. Love the separation but you will need to note that Corsair clearly believe 2.5in disks are the ways forward. I have already broken both clips on the two 3.5in floor bays. Takes a long GPU and with an ATX board, you can still put push/pull fans on a corsair 100i 240mm radiator in the top. May change this to 140mm fan set off a 110 radiator but there will still be room...

I am sounding like a corsair rep. Other brands are available.

I aspired to a fractal design case until this one came along.

(Note to Corsair: sought out the HDD plastic clips. I was warned but still managed to break them within 1 day).

The 540 has the optical drive bay. However, it is the wrong way round (vertical).

If you did get the case, splash out on the two tone (white). I am told it makes it look slimmer.
