I'm looking to build a PC that can not only run most Modern Games on ultra high settings, but also, Music Production without any issues or lag. I know I should keep these separate, but unfortunately, I can't due to budget constraints. ($1500) Any thoughts?

  • Damn good CPU with more than enough horse power for what you'll be doing.
  • Decent cooler to keep the heat from the processor under control.
  • Excellent motherboard with good expansion options and very nice on-board audio.
  • 16 gigs of RAM for heavy multitasking and editing.
  • 128GB SSD for your OS and applications with a 1TB WD Caviar Blue for storage.
  • R9 290 for some very nice gaming performance at 1080p.
  • An excellent case optimized for silent operation.
  • Excellent PSU with more than enough power for the system.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask. Hope this helped.

Read somewhere that Windows 8 had issues and that Win 7 was a better choice. At least for now.

ah. fair enough. however you chose a haswell processor. i've read that these processors aren't utilized efficiently with windows 7. it's more of a power consumption thing though, so for a desktop it's less of an issue.

honestly, it should just be down to personal preference, so if you prefer 7, by all means. but after using windows 8 and getting used to it, i wouldn't go back. haha.

good luck with the build!
