This is my first gaming pc build, a second opinion would be great! Any opinions/ideas on how to cut down cost while still maintaining performance is greatly appreciated. My main games are FFXIV, Starcraft II: HotS, Leauge (I know x_x), and TERA. Thanks!!

why so much money for a pc that will play games that aren't so CPU and GPU intense?

I changed a few things around in your. Added the new 4690K, for cheaper. CM hyper 212 evo is better than the plus. Decent z97 mb, could probably spend a little extra here and get a little better features but I just kind of price matched. Very solid ram kit, cas9 1600mhz and gskill ram usually overclocks prett well. Slightly cheaper 3tb barracuda. R9 280X price of the gtx 760, performance of the 770 enough said. Power supply I left the CX600 builder because it's a great deal. But while you're buying keep your eye's peeled for deals. I would suggest going with 650-750watt, you can get good deals with sales theres just not any great ones at the moment.

If this is still over what you want to spend drop to the R9 280 or 270X.

Quick question though, why is the 4690k cheaper, isn't it the newer version? For the motherboard, as long as it's z97 does it really matter which one I get? Thanks!

Yes it is the newer one. Different retailers different prices, the prices change a lot within a certain range. For the Motherboard, find one you like and do some research on it, read some reviews from websites like toms hardware, anandtech, etc. Figure out which features you want and pick the best priced one with the features u like. Asus, Gigabyte, Msi, and Asrock all make great motherboards.
