got this message: "Some AMD 970 chipset motherboards may need a BIOS update prior to using Vishera CPUs"
for this build http://pcpartpicker.com/user/xasby/saved/sRMMnQ
can someone help or is my build fine?
Looking at your saved build, you should be fine - the FX-8320 was released on October 23, 2012 so an AM3+ board you buy today should have a BIOS that's newer than that.
Checking your motherboard, it supports this CPU since BIOS F1, which is the first BIOS released for this board and which was issued August 6, 2013, so every one of those boards manufactured has supported this CPU since the start.
You only need to think about this if you were looking at the very latest FX CPUs which were introduced a few weeks ago, the FX-8320E, the FX-8370E and the FX-8370. There is a beta BIOS for these CPUs with this board which was issued September 1st - a production board will not have a beta BIOS on it so you would need to update before using those CPUs.
But the older FX-8320 should be good.
okay thanks so much, really good information you gave
