have a corsair cx500 in my current build. has a 12v 38amp rail. looking to upgrade to a gtx 970. read that the gpu requires a 500W psu, but a 12v 42amp rail. do i need a new psu?

thx.

Should be enough if you're not overclocking.

If you want to over clock you need more amperage on the 12V rail.

Pretty sure it requires ~30 amps on the 12v dependent on brand not 42. Might want to double check that source. MSI says 28. I think you'll be fine even if you're overclocking.
