Getting ready to begin overclocking on the Asus MAXIMUS VII HERO ATX LGA1150 Motherboard but am new at this.

So here is what I have:

Is it as simple as running the EZ overclock in the bios? Or should I take a stab at doing it manually? I am new to this and want to have some opinions about this. I also know very little about overclocking and do not want to damage my PC.

Thanks in advance!

I'd do it manually. Linus has a good Devil's Canyon overclocking guide that you can look up.

I would try manual mode. If you're really pressing for a huge overclock the Veterans don't use a graphics card mind you. But for 24/7 Use you will find overclocks like 4.4ghz-4.7ghz using anywhere from 1.1v to 1.35v suitable. Temps will range depending on your waterloop or closed loop cooler.

EDIT: After looking at your parts list with the i5 I would go on a limb and guess that 4.2- 4.5ghz would be very attainable. Try 4.2ghz using 1.225 Volts in the BIOS and Run it! Good Luck.

Thank you. I will have to look at some videos because this will be my first time overclocking.
