GA-970A-UD3 compatibility with GPU

Hi, I'm thinking of upgrading my current gpu to R9 280x, so I just wanted to make sure if my motherboard is compatible with that card.

The card I'm looking to buy is: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150678

and my motherboard is: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128519

I don't really get what PCI Express is, and if PCI Express 3.0 (gpu) is still compatible for my motherboard that has PCI Express 2.0 x 16 (2: x16, x4), PCI Express x1 (3), and PCI slots (2) listed for its expansion slots.
