So, I'm knew to the build your own PC game. I am huge nerd for phones lol, thats my thing. So I understand how everything works in a PC that can translate from a phone. But I still do not precisely understand the difference between expensive motherboards and cheap ones. I have a measly msi A78M-E35 in my build, and despite its 55$ price tag, i don't feel it has limited my gaming or video editing. From what I've seen, it seems the only difference is the amount of ram it can take, PCIE expansion slots, and I/O. But... it cant be just that right?

Quality of components, over clocking capabilities, Port offerings, ram capacity, bus speeds, audio chipset, Lan chipset, pcie versions and configuration of lanes, anti esd capabilities, other safety measures, multiple bios, chipset cooling features, etc... It adds up. There's a huge difference between the bottom end and high end boards. Not everyone needs all the features though... For instance, a hard core gamer or bleeding edge enthusiast needs drastically different features than a soccer mom Web surfer or office worker.

Yup. Just look at some of the naming schemes to validate that... Msi has the gaming series and the mpower and xpower series, Asus has ROG and maximus, etc...
