Opinions wanted for my first gaming build!

Hey everyone,

I'm working on my first gaming build. Basically looking for something that has a good shot at playing anything I feel the desire too, or that my friends feel like playing so I can join them without having to play on my potato/laptop.

This is what I've put together, based mostly off reviews. Let me know what you think! Is 16GB memory and 750W power supply excessive? I'm getting Monitor/Keyboard as christmas presents, haha. I do need a wireless network adapter to avoid running an ethernet cable around my house, any advice for that? Anything else I'm obviously missing?

Thanks for giving it a look!

That's a pretty good beefy setup (: 16GB can be excessive depending on what you are using your computer for. You can get 12GB ripjaws for $120 if I remember correctly. Most people who use their computers just for gaming will get 8GB. I guess it depends on how hunky you want your computer and what you are going to do on it such as running multiple programs at a time.

The 750W PSU can be a bit overkill, mainly because you are getting a 970 which are very power efficient (most recommend a 500w PSU)

If you want to save a bit of money on your graphics card, you can switch to the MSI Gaming GTX 970 for $50 less but still keeping a ton of performance (it is built for overclocking as well)

Just looked at your motherboard o-o expensive but looks like it would work amazingly. The only thing is unless you are planning on using 3 GPU's at a time, you can downgrade to a MSI Z97-G45 Gaming ATX LGA1150 Motherboard. It comes with 2 PCI 3.0 x16 slots so you have an extra for if you want to get another GPU later

16GB RAM is excessive, 8GB is plenty for gaming, suggest http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/part/gskill-memory-f314900cl9d8gbxl

The PSU is about the right size if you plan too add a second 970 later, although I'd use this one instead http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/part/evga-power-supply-220g20750xr

If you don't plan to add a second GPU later then a 550W will suffice, motherboard is probably overkill then as well.

Decent wireless adaptor http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/part/tp-link-wireless-network-card-tlwdn4800

Thanks so much! I think I will keep the overkill Mobo incase I want to add a second 970 later. I'll swap the power supply too.
