I'm just wondering if the ASRock Fatal1ty H97 would be alright with an i7-4790 (not k version) or if it would bottleneck the cpu? Thanks

It's perfectly alright. By the way I've never heard of motherboard bottlenecks. lol

No, H97 chipsets are specifically for non-K processors so you're good.

As with regard to the dreaded "bottleneck", only a low performance RAM, GPU and Hard drive would be capable of doing that..
