get a 990fx motherboard instead. Why not get the r9 290 the cheapest one is 240$ and the cheapest 290x is 300$

right now the r9 290 is the best gpu for price/performance for 300$ then comes the nvidea gtx 970 for 330$

What OS are you using? Some operating systems have bad support for a certain gpus.

Then you should be fine. I was thinking because you didn't put an os on the list, you might be using Linux/GNU which does not like AMD or ATi graphics cards.

Get an fx 8320 or 8350 if budget permits you
