I have fallen in the pit of doom, also known as bad budgeting

I really need help making this cheaper. I would seriously love it if I could get it under $1000, but getting it under $1100 would be very well appreciated, too. I will add in peripherals later, and also the OS (no, I won't "copy that floppy") and monitor. Thank you so much for any help!

this is as good as I could do. You could drop the cooler to an air cooler, or the SSD to 128GB to save some.

Won't save you any money, but lose the Corsair RM750 and get this instead. Why? Just check out Tom's Hardware PSU tier list.

Does the EVGA one have something similar to corsair link? It looks like a very good power supply.

No linky stuff, it's just absolutely top quality, whereas the RM750 is not so good: provides a fine electrical supply but a few of the capacitors are too cheap and potentially unreliable to be in such an expensive part.

OK then, reliability beats features! Thank you for the good idea!

Wait, I just remembered a feature that I forgot about that was in the RM. Does it turn the fan off at low wattages? If not, is it quiet?

Yep, G2 has semi-fanless mode.

A good psu doesn't get that loud if you treat it well, ie., no carpets, no closed cabinets etc. But yes, the RM does turn off the fan at low power consumption levels. It's not the only one tho

This. Seriously, this.

Quick question, does the gpu come with a backplate?

  • 1 point

no, you can get that from evga for 20 bucks. its rather unnecessary tho

  • 1 point

That is fine then. But correct me if I'm wrong, but don't they help with thermal and gpu sag?

  • 1 point

I think the main reason is for sturdiness of the pcb with heavy cooling systems, may have some barely noticeable temperature improvement

Good point, the gigabyte one was long and heavy.
