the recommended psu is a 750 watts and that cx600 will only give you 550 Try getting a better one for that card

yep that's a tier 2 which is good. The non modular rosewill capstone 750w was at 39.99 until yesterday, that was a great deal, maybe tomorrow Friday.

that would mean also getting a Z97 motherboard. The i5 will not bottleneck the 290. So if he isn't planning on overclocking its ok
