Home entertainment/minor gaming/quiet set up

Hi all,

Firstly hello I'm a complete newbie to this site and pc building in general. Here's what I'm after:

Criteria:

  • A box that's going to sit unobtrusively in my living room, hooked up to a big tv and a couple of monitors. No big towers, neon lights etc.

  • Can be used for gaming and is relatively future proof. Will use Xbox controller for games like CoD

  • Mainly for multitasking; so will have a film or bbc iplayer playing on the tv whilst I've got 10's of other things on the go (might include video editing for example)

  • Quiet and efficient. Doesn't have to be silent if that means going over budget but a low hum from a few feet away is what I want at the most

  • Will be running pretty much 24/7 however a rapid boot up whenever I need it

  • Other features (newbie speak): I want everything to be done as wirelessly as possible, I get home and my laptop speaks to the PC and automatically updates, there's a remote control for controlling the entertainment bit etc.

Here's a list I've come up with. Some of this may be overkill but I want to strike the balance between future proofing and avoiding false economies (For example I'd rather have overkill on the power supply if that means it kicks out less heat and doesn't require more noise and expense in cooling systems)
