How Many Case Fans Will I need?

ChristopherBuss

Hello, PCPartPicker forum!

I decided that I want to make the switch to PC. I have a budget of $1,500, and I want to build something that will last me at least five years (with less than $250 of upgrades per year). I want it to be able to perform smoothly and quickly no matter what I throw at it. So far, I have done some research and I have come up with this preliminary build. My question is, how many case fans will I need?

Is there a difference between different SSDs and HDDs? I was under the assumption that it was all about size.

SSDs are much much much faster. And I agree with him, drop that SSD and get a Samsung SSD. I've never even heard of that brand before. It's most likely going to fail fairly quickly.

Oh shoot! I meant to ask if there is a difference between SSD manufacturers? Thanks for the help though, I appreciate it!

Yes, I never heard of ttranscend, and Samsung is faster I believe and has a ten year warranty. I would never buy a Toshiba hdd, I didn't hear many good things about them.

Is it worth the extra cash to get a Samsung SSD? Also, what size monitor should I be looking for? I am currently using a 20 inch 1600x900 hp monitor. Thanks for the help! I greatly appreciate it!

A computer will only last you 3-4 years max.

Darn it! Is there a reason for that?

I was planning on only gaming in 1080p for now. Is the GTX 980 worth the extra cash?

It will crush games.

your case holds this fans

Top: 120/140mm fan x 2 (optional)

Front: 120mm fan x 2 (one installed, one optional)

Rear: 1X 120mm (installed)

Right Side: 120mm fan x 1 (optional)

Bottom: 120mm fan x 1 (optional)

HDD cage: 120mm fan x 1 (optional)

if you want to use all spaces with 120mm then 6, using 140mm would be a good idea as they moved more air at less RPMs so this will translate to less noise
