First Ever Build. Any Suggestions?

This is my first ever build, I'm wanting to focus mainly on gaming but as I'm in college I'm also wanting it to be able to do basic office programs. I have a good idea of everything I'm getting except the GPU, any recommendations on a cheaper one/equally priced GPU that would out preform or if it is cheaper preform just as well as my currently selected GPU, would be great. If there is anything else that could be majorly wrong your suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I am trying to keep this under $1000 http://pcpartpicker.com/user/Bryantmatt66/saved/nFtrxr

Would go ahead and just get a 1600 RAM since it pretty much costs the same as 1333 RAM. You could probably save money on the mobo unless there are some features on that one you chose that you really need. As for the GPU, depending on what kind of games you play and on what settings and what fps you want to play it on, you could either downgrade or upgrade. Upgrade only if you're using a 4k monitor.

What would you recommend as far as the mobo? (im wanting to keep the internals mainly red and black) As far as the type of games i play, I'm mainly going to be playing things like WoW, Day Z, Arma 3. Id also like to run them at the highest settings i can for a build that wont go over 1000.

These two fit the color theme of mobos and are cheaper and they're Z97. WoW doesn't take much to run but the other two games are pretty demanding. With the money you save from the Mobo I would suggest getting a gtx 970. You'll have no problem running those games on highest settings with good FPS.

I also forgot to mention that the R9 290 is a very hot GPU and I mean hot in the most literal way possible. Just something to think about since I see you have no extra case fans in your build.

What are the major differences between the two mobo you suggested, price wise id like to go with the MSI z97, but if its not as good performance wise as the gigabyte z97 ill go ahead and get it.

There's no real difference, just pick whichever one you think looks cooler.

as barley said you definitely go for ram with 1600 clk its the industry standard now ,for GPU it completely depends on you choice and requirements ,you can definitely go down on the mob try ASUS Z97 A ,450D is a good case but considering you budget you canalso downgrade use the money for i5 4690 and as I said a Z97 chipset board of your choice
