Help hitting ~1000 dollars without dropping the specs too much

I'm trying to low the cost of this build to about 1000 dollars, a close friend of mine requested I help him make a new gaming PC. I was able to get the build to about 1200 without a CD drive included in the build (wish I could have one for him)

The listed monitor isn't actually currently 178 on newegg, there is a huge deal and it is actually about 110, so there was ~70 shaved off of the pcpartpicker total just because of that, so really it is about 1100 right now. I'd like some opinions on any parts that could possibly be raised in specs for the same price or cheaper, and any places that can get money shaved off would be nice, any help getting this build down to ~1000 is greatly appreciated, thankyou to everyone in advance.

No Link bro, but an i5/z97/2x4GBDDR31600/Geforce760 build goes a long way and you can probably budget the rest of the parts to keep it under 1k

You would be so much better served if you were willing to sacrifice a bit on your mouse, keyboard, and case though.

As must as I would LOVE to give him a 970, in the end that is his decision, whether he wants to sacrifice on the case keyboard and mouse or not, I'll let him know the differences in a little bit when I see him and see what he says. In the end this is his PC not mine, I let him pick out his own mouse and keyboard, so it's all a matter of whether he cares that much about them or not.
