I'm going to build two of these soon for Christmas for my sons. I'm pretty low in my knowledge about these things. I used Logical Increments to choose the parts. But now I'm having second thoughts on the i3 4150 v some other i5 processor? I like that I don't need an extra cooler for the i3 4150, because I can save $ that way. And the video card- someone commented that the i3 might bottleneck the GTX760?

Thanks for any advice! Ali

fx 6300 with an am3+ mobo could be the way to go at this budget

That is what the Logical Increments chart has listed for the next level down from the i3 with the GTX760. In your experience do you thin the pair you recommend performs better?

will you be going with Windows or something else? Cause one copy of Windows is only for one PC. One copy one license one PC...

Also no need for a Z mobo since the i3's are locked CPU's. Don't care for i3 TBH. Go Pentium G3258 or with an i5. If not for the same price as the i3 get something like a FX 8320.

We have Windows through the local university so we can get it free for as many PCs as we have.

Okay I will look at the ones you recommend.

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/9CxB4D It has a FX 6300 and a R9 290 which is significantly more powerful than a GTX 760.

Thanks! I read that the R9 290 needs a good cooler. What do you think about that?

It has 3 on board fans, its 100% fine, you don't need a $250 custom cooling loop.
