I'd go with an i5 4690k so you can overclock it, and hdds that have 7200rpm.

I don't need high speed HDDs. I'm going for RAID1 for storing purposes only. I'm planning on using this CPU for a while and go for 4790k in several months.

Your HDDs are going to be PAINFULLY slow, and that processor sucks, the AMD FX 8320 beats that processor, and is cheaper, and you can get a more affordable motherboard.

Also, the point in a z97 motherboard is so you can overclock you CPU, but that CPU cannot be overclocked...

It won't matter for gaming that much. I am planning on going for 4790k in the near future. The HDDs are for storing purposes only as I have tons of photos and I am going for RAID1. I know this CPU is locked but I can get it for a good deal and it should be fine for gaming for the next 6 months or so.
