Going to be used mostly for rendering and low (and I said low) graphics intensity games. No, the i7 is not overkill for what I'm doing.

You can probably get away with bumping your power supply down a bit, to 550w or so if you want to save an extra bit of money. Is there a specific reason you chose that motherboard? If not, you can get a cheaper one of those as well.

There not really I just like it being red and nothing really else out there but I would be happy for you to prove me wrong :)

Black/red board for a little bit cheaper, has less sata 6gb ports but 4 is enough for most people. Isn't a massive difference obviously, and if you have the money to spend on looks, then more power to you.

I saw that one but will overclocking be fine on it do you think?

Should do, they're both z97 chipsets. I'm sure like everything else one board will be a little better at it than others, but hey. One thing though is the msi gaming 5 has an overclocking genie, which will overclock your cpu with one button which is great if you've never done it before or don't want to go through the hassle.

Gigabyte has a genie also thats why I was getting it but if you have more experience to say the msi one is better please do say.
