Hey guys, I put together this spec for a gaming build. let me know what you think. If there are any parts I can substitute for less money while still maintaining performance let me know. Comments are appreciated!

I wouldn't spend more on my motherboard than I do on my CPU, but I've never understood high-end motherboards. I would get a Z97 board, not Z87.

Do you need a 280mm radiator, or would a 120mm work fine? How much are you planning to OC?

That SSD is outrageously priced. I have no idea why you put that on there.

Here, try this: PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

You can swap out the 970 for a 980 and still be cheaper than your current build, or SLI the card you have for barely any more.

Thank you very much. I'm still new to building clearly so this was very helpful! Do you mean overclock? And I think I am going to upgrade to 980 instead of SLI because I've seen some games do not make use of the other graphics card and it can be very hit or miss

Yes, OC = overclock. If you aren't planning on overclocking, you definitely don't need a 240mm watercooler -- stick with the tried and true Cooler Master 212.

If you're only going for a single card, I would recommend a 550W Gold power supply (PSU). You won't need more than that (especially with the Maxwell cards) unless you're planning to SLI in the future. This is great guide for PSUs: http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/id-1804779/power-supply-unit-tier-list.html
