Motherboard Bios Update?

What does it mean when at the bottom of the system build page it says "Some Intel [Insert Series Name Here] chipset motherboards may need a BIOS update prior to using Ivy Bridge-E CPUs?

If it helps, the CPU is an i7-4930k and the motherboard is an Asrock X79 Extreme4 ATX LGA2011.

I'm not really sure about your particular case, but I do know that if everything is working as intended with no problems, then you should NOT update your BIOS.

Non-supporting BIOS = No boot.

For instance, Z87 MoBo were designed to work with 4th gen processors. But they would not work with the Devil's Canyon versions unless you flashed them prior.
