So I've been wanting to get more into PC gaming for a while, so I've finally decided to take the plunge. I'd rather build my own, though I don't really have much tech experience, aside from a class or two in highschool. I'm a college student, so I'm on a budget; but I don't want to make a total POS. I tried to stay around the seven or eight hundred dollar range. Any feedback people can give me on what I've come up with would be awesome.

Lower the psu to 600~650w and upgrade the gpu to least a r9 280 or 280x. Also if you're a student you can get windows 8.1 really cheap depending on where you're from etc.

Gotcha. This seems to work out well. Also, the 69.99 is the cheapest I could get for students, since my school only offers discounted and free software to the engineering students.

Looks good. Technically you could chip away a bit more on prices for motherboard/case and squeeze in a r9 290 if you really like but i think the 280x will do you fine since it will max out least 90% of games at 1080p anyways.

I'll probably look at another motherboard to take off a bit, but I'm pretty set on the case, though looking around to save some money wouldn't hurt. Thanks for the advice!

Theres a cheaper similar case somewhat called the nzxt s340. Its bout $30 cheaper and its like a baby h440/define r4 type of case its worth checking out.
