comparison tools

biggles

Newegg has a nice side-by-side comparison tool (up to 5). I can't get it to compare AMD vs intel mobos. Are they too different, or are the features just described and sequenced different?

Early build plan:
non-gaming dual-monitor (maybe a third) ;
tend to run multiple apps simultaneous, and many browser tabs too ;
entry level headset and webcam (might upgrade someday) ;
basic print/scan/copy -in one (might add or upgrade) ;
Currently run one internal storage to start, plus one external ;
Need ethernet and wi-fi capacity ;
Cheapo speakers (upgrade someday)

I've struggled with 2Gb memory on an old machine and wondered about a better starting point. Is 4 or 8 Gb a good start and plan to add more later, or...?

Is memory where Youtube and streaming audio and video from the web slows a system and sometimes causes crashing?

Thanks for suggestions on the memory questions and on good mobos to consider for my build.
