I know this is on the more expensive side, I'm not going for overkill but rather something that will work well now, and continue to work well over the next few years.

It's not overkill if you don't go with intel. Something like i7-4790K + GTX980 (for future upgrade).

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/g63TVn Here yah go. If you plan on upgrading in the future, you can switch over to a gtx 980. Honestly dont get EVGA. I'd go with gigabyte, Msi, or asus ;)
