Would I need thermal paste? What about the operating system? Any of you have experience with different parts for a lower price? I'll be using this for gaming and a few small projects that won't be too demanding. I want to keep it around $1700 or lower. I like the case but I would prefer the Phanteks Enthoo Pro ATX Full Tower Case. The power supply seems decent since the estimated wattage was around 370w, not sure if I should go for a 750 supply to be safe...please share your thoughts :). I want to start building by the end of this month.

I agree with Leaf here. Swap out the cooler for a 212 Evo (and it comes w/ paste, I JUST built one last week and no need to order more, its plenty).

Also, if you're not overclocking, you can downgrade that CPU to just a 4690 or even 4590.

As for the GTX980... absolutely swap it out for the GTX970 and save yourself around $200. 650W would be pushing it if you chose to SLI them, however by the time you may want to SLI your cards, you could just as well buy the latest and greatest on the market at the time.

Happy Gaming!

This is my revised build. The 4690k is a few dollars less than the 4690 by me. I changed the case, graphics card and cup cooler.
