MoBo cooling w/ an overclocked high TDP chip

When overclocking a CPU with a high TDP, what is the best way to keep the motherboard cool?

Liquid cooler with a side fan?

Top flow air cooler? Be quiet! appears to be releasing some pretty neat ones from CES 2015.

Or should I just use a conventional one and not worry about it? The chip is likely only going to be an 8350, so it's not like it'll be a 9590. I read a review of the 5960x where overclocking caused the MoBo to heat up too much and am now worried, though I don't think most people analyze it this much and just use a normal cooler.

with AMD FX series try going with a 990FX motherboard as its better built for overclocking.

The first step is to get a higher end motherboard... But ya, there's lots of options, including adding active coolers in place of the heat sinks over the major components like the north and south bridges. You can also custom loop a water kit with multiple components being cooled. Good case air flow is the first step though

Airflow, airflow, airflow. All those coolers are for the cpu, not the m/bd. Just make sure you get good airflow over the heatsinks and it'll do just fine. If there's an issue with your airflow you could always get something like the Z97 Sabertooth which has the cooling tunnels and the little fans to force air into them. Somewhat overkill, but that's the whole reason for that board.
