Was going to do a power on self test, can anyone help me in updating the BIOS? So I found the update and put it to a flash drive, now what?

  • There are no universal/set standard for BIOS update procedure.
  • Refer to your mobo/system manual for specific instructions. If manual is misplaced, you can download the manual from the mobo/system manufacturer's website.

Thanks for the input. I have an X99 and checked the manual. It advises against manual updates, says that manual BIOS updates are potentially risky. Well, I haven't done the POST test yet but now that I know I'll just use the EZ Update to download an update in Windows instead.

Depending on who you ask, BIOS updating via Windows is higher risk.
