Got the product key sticker from the DVD...when i bought my machine...

how do i Move my license from a Seagate HDD/ Gigabyte Z77M to my new Asus Z97-A/ Crucial BX100 SSD setup

Some of the instructions i have found seem contradictory and/or flawed..

Can anyone make any suggestions or supply a good link ? Thanks a bunch...

you cannot do it with OEM copies of windows unless you call microsoft and convince them the old pc died.

  • From legal standpoint, OEM versions are not transferable. With that said,
  • If cloning to "move" the Windows 7, key would "move" during the cloning process. Activation may be required due to changes in hardware.
  • If clean installing Windows 7, just enter key after installation. Activation will be required.

If you don't have OEM version then it is transferable.
