Why is the Corsair HX850 so cheap?

I'm looking for an upgraded PSU for the CX430.

Est. wattage currently of my system (integrated graphics) is 134w on PCPP. (i5 locked CPU).

Looking into getting into gaming with a 970/whatever the 300 series offers. I would really like to keep the PSU for a good 6-8+ years though, so I would like some future-proofing, especially if I ever decide to SLI/Crossfire. Hence why the 850 watts interests me.

It's not an HXi, it's an HX. Is there a real difference between the two that makes the extra $80 worth it?

The cheapest decent 650w is ~$85-90, and this is $100. The next decent 850w is ~$150.

Why is it so cheap?

Didn't see the EVGA ones for whatever reason.

So it would be a good idea to stay away from the HX850? Is it really worth the $27 difference?

Yes, corsair psu's are overpriced for there quality, the hx is tier 2 iirc, on par with $50 psu's.
