Will the i5-4690k bottleneck my 980 SLI?

Many people have told me to upgrade my CPU to the i7-4790k, so I don't bottleneck my 980 SLI. Is this a concern? If it is a concern, why? Thanks in advance!

Also this PC will be used solely for gaming and browsing the internet.

My build for reference.

Nope, not a chance. CPU is fine for the job.

Nope nevah. The 4690K has pretty good single threaded/dual threaded performance which most games utilize right now. Some games like bf4 have multi-threaded support where the i7's 4 extra threads will come in handy, but not by a lot. At this stage of a build with a 4690k and sli 980's, it's going to come down to developer optimization rather than hardware. Benchmarks Just look at the "SC mixed, QC mixed" scores, they aren't much different. The i7 wins MC Mixed since it utilizes all 8 processing threads that the i7 line offers(with hyperthreading).

People say to get the i7 since with your type of build, it seems as if you are into content creation, which you will get better performance with a 4790k over a 4690k just because of the 4 extra processing threads.

You aren't going to bottleneck it, whoever told you to upgrade to a i7 so you don't bottleneck doesn't know anything about bottlenecking.

SLI 980's wont be bottlenecked by a 2500k.
