Advice on coolers for my saved parts lists

Hi guys,

Great website - new to it but it's helped me narrow down my first build list quite a bit. I've got two different builds with a few versions of these (basically overclockable and non-K builds of the Shadowfax and Kappa designs for different budgets). Originally my design for the Shadowfax had a water-cooler, but I'm not looking to show off or bite off more than I can chew with my first build - so I swapped it for a Noctua NH-D14.

I've heard that they're pretty big, so I was wondering if it would work with the H440 cases (One White/Black and one with the Razer special edition), the Windforce GTX 970 and the motherboards for each build (probably going with the the Krait edition).

Otherwise, could you recommend and alternative - something nice and easy to install and fit in that will do me even if I overclock? If we can go cheaper without loosing quality, I'd consider it.

Any general comments about my saved parts lists are welcome too! I'm upgrading from an Asus-n56vz laptop, so I'm expecting to see some major improvements.

Budget versions:

Shadowfax: https://pcpartpicker.com/user/MagTuired/saved/#view=R3qgXL

Hopefully.

That cooler should fit and is one of the best air coolers. There's a phanteks air cooler out there as well that does a good job as well.

Thanks Briguy, very helpful. I'm pretty pleased, seems this is a great price for a great cooling option, and will probably save me a lot of hassle compared to installing a water cooler.
