This Workstation Build is meant for Quantum Molecular Dynamics suffice to say intensive linear Algebra and fast fourier transforms. I specifically chose the cpu because it's price is extremely reasonable at Microcenter. A Gpu is secondary in this build. Basically the strengths of the build need to be in the Ram and Cpu.

The CPU supports DDR3 ram and motherboard DDR4 will the different frequencies and form of ram be problematic to the machines operation?

Any opinions for improvements on parts would by highly appreciated. I'm especially looking for advice on a good workstation PSU.

FYI: The primary code for this workstation will be plane wave density functional, VASP.

the Cpu and RAM should be fine

and you could go with a cheaper better PSU with a higher Energy star rating
