Noob needs help with OS install

Hello,

I am planning on using windows 7 on my computer. I don't have an optical drive and will not get one. I am a student and get it for free online. What is the best way to get it from the internet to my computer to boot up and download? Usb? Other Option?

Thanks!

USB is your best bet. You will need a separate computer to load the ISO file onto the USB for all I know.

Bootable USB drive works nicely.

Someone recommended on this forum software called "Rufus"

It was crazy simple and easy. So much better than the Microsoft method. Boot from USB, I recommend rufus

Don't need a second computer. He stated he gets it free on line. Where do people come up with crazy ideas like this?

portable version, which means no install to your OS drive.

  1. Download the Windows 7 ISO
  2. Download Rufus portable version.
  3. Insert USB flash drive.
  4. Run Rufus to create a bootable Windows 7 USB flash drive.
