Great card for 1080p, actually a little overkill to be honest. I did not want any games to be bottlenecked, so this offered enough to last many years. The 3.5 bug doesn't effect me and I got a partial refund, so no regrets here. Runs cool and quiet. Only complaint is that it doesn't have a backplate for the price.
Mind blowing performance over the 770. Very quiet as well, and I like that the fans are not constantly going, but even when they do start spinning it is hard to tell. I haven't tested the VRAM usage. I am so pleased with the performance on games that I don't really see the need.
It was a tough call choosing which gtx 970 to go for. But I narrowed it down to msi and gigabyte g1. Sadly, the G1 has always been out of stock on the time of purchase. Scored 9963 on Fire Strike and haven't played with an overclock yet. It stays relatively cool while gaming (36-40C on idle passively cooled) My only gripe is that this card sags down a little; it's not that bad. A back plate could have been nice too ^ It's like the thing now for gpus. After reading about the memory issue, I just laughed it off. This card performs really well.
Myyyyyyyy preciousssssss..& obviously the the thing that squeezed a lot out my of budget so far. i was mulling on the idea of getting it on ebay on the cheap(refurbished by MSI) but after considering the hassle from custom checking(electronics import) & time to wait for the delivery, i went full on crazy eyed shopaholic state, & paid the guy
Great Graphics card for 1080p Gaming... Every game runs at 60 fps at maxed settings and then if you want 1440p gaming, get 2 gtx 970s... But for 1080p gaming, you will be set for a while.
This GPU is wonderful. I couldn't afford a 980, and this was the perfect slight step down as it's quite a bit cheaper, but runs every game I've thrown at it at maxed settings in 1080p at 60+fps.
It does get kind of loud and kind of hot when the fans are going and you've been playing for a while, but if you're playing a game you're having audio output, which means you're very unlikely to hear anything.
