its DDR3, and not even up there with the fastest DDR3 RAMs. Then again, most old-old boards can't handle much faster RAM. I'll admit, its good, functional RAM for the low, low price, and it served me well for 3 years, but I'd recommend at least 16 GB, so either get a second one of these, or get two faster ones. I just upgraded my whole Motherboard and build to get DDR4 instead, probably a better idea, if your build is this old, unless you're going hyper-budget.

It works great, is just enough for gaming, and doesn't look bad.

More ram than I'll ever need, thinking about how the performance would have been if I had bought a higher clocked RAM.

Bought used for 30$ of Ebay, works GREAT, had to make sure the timings matched my old PCs RAM stick(9-9-9-24) and voltage(1.5v) it paired perfectly with the old RAM.

Insert generic "It's ram, it works" review here.

I bought a single 8GB with the intent of slapping in another one down the line.

Good memory for the price. Go with the 2 x 4GB kit if you can.
