Very cheap! This is both the Lite-On's biggest selling point and annoyance.
I will no doubt only use this drive during inital setup and windows install.
Beyond that I think I will have little use for it.
That said it is useful to have the drive just in case.
It is a little noisy during operation.
I have my case on its side and this drive sometimes makes vibration noise and/or will fail to burn. Turning the drive flat (case up) is fine.
makes this weird ticking noise when i turn on the computer but it goes away after and it works
It's a DVD writer. It works. What more do you want?
Cheap and gets the job done (installing OS and very rare CD/DVD usage)
Really loud while it is being used.
It does what it is supposed to and the anti-vibration technology helps reduce noise.
Used it to install windows 7 and drivers, works fine and is very cheap. recommended
Lite-on, it's quality, it's a great budget drive.
I honestly don't have anything bad to say about this product. I've only used it once to watch a movie. I really only bought it to have it in case I needed it for something. It does the job.
6 year old drive at this point, but still working quite. After about 4 years, the door sometimes sticks when pressing eject, but a second press will open it right up. Outside of the door thing, this drive has been a champ for the occasions I need a drive (software installation, ripping CDs...)
