For the money, you can't go wrong. I've got mine running at a stable 3.5GHz on stock voltage using the included Wraith Spire. In gaming, it would compare to a recent Intel i5, and once you Overclock it further (given better cooling) it would more than happily match a Kaby Lake i5 in most modern games. ... That said, it destroys it in production tasks, so if you're looking for a budget workstation, this chip right here has your name written on it.

This thing is worth its salt. Compared to an i5 6500/7500, it outperforms it by a country mile. It runs at a stable 3.60 ghz, which is crazy since all I had to do was press a button to have it do it automatically. Stock cooler is incredibly efficient, even if it isn't "RGB".

pretty beastly for being at the bottom of the ryzen 5 line up this cpu handles youtube 1080p 60fps and dose not get above 10% usage it plays 1440p as well and can play 4k but my internet is not happy when i try to, the stock cooler is amazing, currently as of writing this review it is idle at 37c max temp of 66c and that was under full load while rendering a video in sony vegas and a youtube video playing at 1080p 60fps as for gaming this thing dosent even break a sweat ultra detail settings 1920x1080 75hzs refresh rate in doom 4 it was solid 75 fps going inbetween 40% and 60% usage once it settled in it stayed in the low 40s this cpu is a power house for the price.

One of the best budget cpus out there you won't regret buying it . Not suggesting to overclock if you are gonna use the stock cooler with it but it performs well but not suited for oc. Low usage still needs to be optimized well.

I always used to think as AMD as something low-quality. But now that I've seen their new products, and have gotten used to it for 2 years, it's a good deal for a budget build!

Great CPU for the money. Get them 4C/8T. Comes with a great stock cooler as well!

from completed build Ryzen upgrade to Purple Menace

Great CPU for the price and if your willing to overclock to match/come close to the frequency of the 1500x it is very close to the same minus the fact that it has half the L3 cache. No frame latency issues in the games that i have tested (pubG, Overwatch, star wars battlefront). I have also tested streaming on twitch with this as well (720p) with no issues. I was debating getting the intel i3 K cpu or an i5, i went with this one though to try out Ryzen.

Fast, cheap, and hopefully upgradable if AMD sticks with the AM4 socket for a few years. My chip is running at 3.8 GHz @ 1.36875 V with stock cooling and only reaches 56 degrees while running AIDA64's stress test. Hovers between 30-40 degrees under normal loads. Runs the games I've thrown at it like a champ and makes Windows 10 an incredibly fast and responsive experience. Well done AMD!

4 cores 8 threads for 160 bucks? very competitive and powerful CPU compared to intel's 4c8t 320 dollar cpu's.

from completed build My First PC Build

Went with the 1400 as I was on a tight budget, but I will upgrade to a 1600 or 1700 within a year or two and install the 1400 into the girlfriends PC.

I'm coming from an A10-6700 OEM Asus PC, so it's obviously been a huge bump. I'm overclocked to 3.8GHZ at 1.3V, I got just under 800 on Cinebench R15, plays all my games amazingly with my RX 580.

For $236 CAD tax in, shipped, I don't think it can be beat.
