from completed build Creative Cloud i9

A fantastic Z390 motherboard to pair with Intel 9th Generation CPUs, such as the i9 9900K I used in my build. The build quality is palpable.

Straight out of the box, this overclocked the CPU from its base of 3.6GHz to a stable 4.7GHz, without my lifting a finger. I was really happy with this so just left the settings right there. It pushes itself to 4.9GHz under load, and drops down to 800MHz when absolutely nothing is happening.

The UEFI interface isn't going to win awards, but I found it functional and offering an incredible array of settings.

The board also comes with a ton of software from Gigabyte, all of it optional, some of it useful. System Fan 5 lets you finely control when fans kick in and how they ramp up, and SIV lets you monitor basic system state and temperatures. Other software is dodgier and could potentially run you into problems, such as Fast Boot and USB Disabler.

The manual was just about workable, but has a lot of room for improvement. I found several parts to be painfully lacking in helpful detail. I worked it out in the end, but would have appreciated more guidance.

A feature rich, playfully colourful board that has exactly everything I needed. Despite what people say about their software, gigabyte makes some damn good hardware. This board comes with excellent VRM that improves overclocking stability and temperatures and is the main reason to go with it over the competition (in my opinion)

However, sone issues arose with the software. The utility software and RGB Fusion 2.0 are the main culprits, however I have managed to fix or find suitable workarounds to all of my issues so far. Despite this, RGB fusion is quite basic compared to other lighting softwares from other boards such as Asus Aorua Sync.

I did have some minor problems with wiring with Gigabyte having unique 5V ARGB headers to MSI, AZROCK and ASUS. But I found out that there is actually no compatibility issues so I just used the MSI, AZROCK, ASUS 5V ARGB header and RGB Fusion still syncs up with them. A side note, I would have gone with a the PRO WIFI, however I already own a PCI Wireless card, so I used that instead.

Lets my 9900k OC to 5 GHz stable with no prior OC knowledge. Gigabyte BIOS a bit buggy though, at the time I write this AVX offset applies always. Lack of PS/2 port and way to switch BIOS slot puzzling. Was tricky to figure out how to install M2 drives from the manual.

Plenty of USB and fan headers. BIOS is easy to use.

This motherboard looks and performs good, I just wish the BIOS wasn't absolute trash.

    from completed build Project Jinx

Well built, excellent VRM design, lacking in some of the extra goodies on the more expensive boards, but has everything I need and nothing I don't. Gigabyte's RGB controller software is kind of meh, but it's not a huge priority for me.

Good motherboard with bad led controll soft. Dual bios is very helpfull function.

    from completed build RGB Silicon

    Pros:

    • A ton of headers and cable connections.

    • Has customizable RGB, but the software is pretty bad.

    • Supports overclocking.

    • (Subjective) Looks good.

    Cons:

    • The bottom left RGB led is really weak compared to the others.

Thoughts: Good motherboard, would definitely recommend for practical use, not really for RGB. General aesthetics is pretty good though with an IO Shroud.
