This is a great looking and affordable Z170 motherboard that has all the features I need.
That said, it comes with a VERY cheap IO shield, which made mounting the motherboard in the case extremely frustrating. On reading other reviews of this motherboard, I know I'm not the only one who struggled with this.
The board is black, but the lines on it are brown. This is not shown in the marketing images. In practice, the color of the board depends on viewing angle and the amount of incident light. When it's in the case, the board appears black, but when working on it one could easily see that it was actually brown.
This motherboard is outstanding. As a first time builder, it was a breeze to work with. If I ran into any issues the manual went into detail. The BIOS is very neat. Also looks amazing. I haven't overclocked with it yet, but I will soon.
One of the cheaper 1151 boards I could find that had all the features I wanted. I refused to spend $300 on a "pro gaming whatever" board. Like some others have mentioned, the I/O shield and putting the motherboard in the I/O shield was a bit fiddly, but you'll only have to worry about that for all of 60 seconds and then you'll forget about it forever.
One of the most popular motherboards around here when I bought it. It works :) but when I updated the bios it went into a reboot loop and I had to shut it down and on again so it could finish the updating process. I almost pissed my pants. Also it seems that all the last bios updates have bugs and each version breaks something. When choosing bios version you have to choose which bug you like more. The Qfan fan control in the bios is nice but kinda useless right now because it doesn't work properly with PWM fans ( Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO ). But since it wasn't so expensive and it's very new and everything else seems to work great I still give it a good rating. I hope Asus will fix the little bugs.
