This was By Far the Best buy in My whole system this is a great Card Fast Silent and Plenty of VRAM for mods and Eventually 4k ( If I Get a 4k Monitor Idk) I picked it up extremely cheap on one of Mwaves Group deals. I am Very Happy with this Purchase
Mixed feelings. All the games work at max settings in 1440p. But runs games at 70C+ and fans are very loud after 50%.
Great cooling with 3 fans. Overclocking is ok, but crashes in some games.
Powerful beast of a card - Looks awesome but the damn LED PULSES and you CAN NOT turn it off!
If it distracts m too much i'll have to tape over it - but who pays this much to then tape over the feature?!
Also, it ran hot - 95C in my case before I put in my exhaust fan and the adhesive melted off the plastic stripes that are on the heatsink. I expected better from an Asus Strix product.
EDIT** - The annoying pulsing STRIX stip + the fact that it runs 7C hotter than the Sapphire 390 OC backplate edition meant i've returned it and got the Sapphire 390 OC.
Powerful card, not a great overclocker. Runs hot (got up to 91 on factory oc settings) and fans starts getting loud at around 55% fan speed. After experiencing it's performance, I can't really recommend this particular aftermarket card and would advice others to just go for the other ones.
The STRIX logo led does a breathing effect and I don't think you can make it static :(
Lovely design :) promises 0db for browsing and movies.
If this thing didnt own all games on ultra 1080/1440p that ive tried so far it would be a 3str review due the heat and in turn fan noise .
Lets start with the positives , this is packaged very well.Like a designer handbag , along with holding it in your hand it feels expensive .Which it is .
It idles around 52c (silent) but i dont have the fans yet , it games around the 88c mark if you don't set a custom profile. This results in a fan around 70% and the noise of jet ,and a super hot case.
Very nice card. Lots of diaplay ports. Should last me for a while. Love that the fans dont move when under light/no load, helps keep things quiet.
This GPU is HEAVY. It's definitely leaning a bit in my system. I definitely wish Asus took some steps to counteract this like they did with their 980 ti design.
I've been able to get very good OC's with this card and managed to keep it around 80 degrees. Considering it is a power hungry and always hot AMD I've been really impressed with the Strix cooling.
I've used the 970 quite a bit and after two weeks with the 390 I now can say for certain that the 390 is the better card hands down. I'm getting ** least 5 fps more on every game I've played.
I did dock a star purely because the card really is crooked and heavy. I'm definitely a bit concerned.
I ended up bending up a extra metal piece from my case I had laying around and screwing it into my psu shroud to prop up my gpu. It's black so it can't be seen and has done the job very well. It was leaning more than ever so a step had to be taken.
