It can handle everything you can throw at it in 1080p. In most games, you will be able to push 100+ frames on “ultra” quality. It does not get too hot, even in a case with minimal airflow. Fans do not spin up until you put a load on it, and it is quieter than the AMD Prism Cooler if both were at 100%.

Only thing to consider is that while it isn’t the longest card, it is very thicc. It will fit in most cases, but it might get tight for some people. It has a back plate as well so GPU sag isn’t bad for how heavy it is.

4 stars because the retail pricing on this is a pretty obvious dig at NVIDIA (I'm looking at you, massive overstock of 1060's) at the consumer's expense. Seriously, before I say anything else about this card, HODL for CES 2019 and the Navi GPU's... I think that's gonna be the game changer on RX 580/590 pricing.

If the RX 590 was being released at $249 and AMD was dropping their MSRP on the 580's down to $219 and below BEFORE SALES, I'd say GO GO GO! At $279, go buy one of the MANY ~$200 RX 580's on sale right now.

With the complaints out of the way ... It's an absolute joy, this card. Fantastic performance at the mid-tier level. Crushes 1080P everything I've thrown at it, laughing all the way. (I don't have a 1440P monitor, so I can't comment on that area) I need to really have a look at temps under stress, but with MSI Afterburner up during gameplay and benches, I haven't seen anything concerning at all.

Conclusion? Solid mid range card... but you expected that from a Polaris GPU. And it's totally NOT a re-brand cuz it's 12 nm instead of 14 (har har AMD). But I honestly would not recommend a 590 over a 580 at their current pricing structure. It's ~10% of a performance increase for ~25% more money.

P.S. Yes, this thing draws an obscene amount of power. Did you remember it's an AMD GPU?
