Eight CPU cores in an old package, what's not to love? Easy to cool with a single-tower air cooler.

Decent budget CPU in 2019. Having 8 threads helps out, but the platform is getting pretty dated.

In 2019, still a beast. Stock cooler is crap, used to idle at 80+, but i had mine survive without a cooler for the longest time before i threw a Noctua on there. Also, still a beast.

Good budget CPU in 2018 if you're buying used. 8 cores should help as games use threads more effectively.

Solid overclocker, power hungry but handles what I throw at it well. Runs cool for a 5 year old CPU.

SOLID CPU. Its old, yes. But with a mild overclock to 4.2 Ghz this thing can rock with the best of them. Would highly recommend with a AIO cooler. The 212 will run hard to keep up.

from completed build My Second Gaming PC ~$800 Budget

I used this CPU in my last build and I planned on going for a 8350 but I chose this because of my budget. This CPU has done me well in the past and has done me well now. I even dropped it and bent the pins and had to bend them back and it still works! (whew)... I overclocked my CPU to 4.00 Ghz last time and I wanna push higher if my cooler will be able to handle it. I am not very good at bench marking or telling differences between overclocked and non so I don't really know what to say other than this is a great CPU for the price.

Based off of AMD's old Bulldozer architecture, so it's not the best performer. However, it's a very decent overclocker and gets the job done for now, despite the bottleneck.

Very Easily Overclocked using AMD's overclocking program. Runs cooler then expected and very pleased over all.

Very good CPU, I believe that AMD can do a better job with the stock cooler but it still gets the job done.
