When I decided to start my build I picked the Formula IX first before any other part and built around that. I love the factory EK Crosschill vram block. Be cautious about using flex tubes if you plan on doing what I did with my build. I honestly cannot believe it did not kink going from my CPU to the vram.

from completed build i7 7700k RGB Galore!

Kind of overkill for my build but they didn't have the code in stock at the time. I recommend the code if you're not planning on adding a custom loop.

Just to clear this up, this motherboard was expensive, however, I personally found the traits and features of this board to be well worth the price tag. The ROG shield really adds to the clean and neutral look that I was going for. Connectivity is great, the dual M.2 slots will definitely be used in the future, and the software that comes with this board is also really nice.

from completed build The 4K 4K Build

My favorite Z270 board. The build quality of the board is amazing, its got nice accented rgb leds, good looking armor, built in wifi and bluetooth and it can be watercooled. What else could you want?

Amazing motherboard super easy to use and extremely good lookimg.only issue I had with it is losing one of the motherboard mounting screws behind the shielding it took forever to get out I would definitely make sure to use a magnetic screwdriver when installing them

A masterpiece of a motherboard. Outstanding quality, easy-to-use BIOS, stable overclocks, and very aesthetically pleasing as well!

from completed build BLEACH: Toshiro Hitsugaya - FINAL

I absolutely love the quality of this board. Auto overclock, thermal control, RoG Armor, Aurasync LED, RGB capable, and even a custom EKWB water block over the VRM for even higher overclocking! I'm able to pump 1.401v into the CPU because of this. The BIOS flash was really handy, as I updated the BIOS in an instant using a flash drive. This is a truly capable motherboard that sits firmly between the Maximus IX Code and the (imho, overpriced) Maximus IX Extreme. If you are going to do a custom loop, do it with this mobo or the Extreme.

I definitely am not using this board to it's full potential, but it looks perfect and handles my custom loop very well.

I love this motherboard, but, for $389.99 I am going to be picky :)

The lit up section that says "Republic of Gamers" should say "Maximus IX Formula" instead.

There is already a "RoG" eye on the southern heatsink making it redundant and calling it "gamer" just seems tacky. "Maximus IX Formula" would be a more elegant, powerful and informative solution.

If anyone knows how to customize this please contact me...

Nice looking and way overkill for my build but love the Bluetooth and armor look.
