from completed build Jorbocomputer
A very useful wifi/bluetooth adaptor if your board doesn't have wifi. The antenna is corded, so it can be placed higher for better reception, or even replaced with something more powerful. The bluetooth can run keyboard/mouse combos, media remotes, game controllers, head-sets etc.
For gaming, like Counterstrike, the wifi was acceptable if your signal is good.
from completed build Constantine, Risen Omnipotent (220301)
Wi-Fi and BT4.2 both in one unit is nice, the exterior antenna can be placed up on my desk for better signal, and my internet connection is consistently full-speed (100 MBPS download, 10 MBPS upload) . The device seems to take a while to connect on startup compared to the rest of my services, but it's usually working within 30 seconds. I broke the antenna recently, but cannibalized another from a friend's old PC to get it working again.
from completed build PC in the desk 3.0
Great wifi but this is the gen 5 version. Get the latest.
from completed build First build!
Don't forget to plug in usb header! (I thought it was just for internal usb, but it is for bluetooth.) +1 for magnetic antenna.
from completed build First PC Build
Works really well. Connects to 5G networks and provides the same or greater speed when compared to a wired connection.
from completed build 2021 Lab Computer: Redemption
Used this in two builds, but I don't know that I'd buy it now that the price is higher. I love the magnetic antenna that this comes with. Small and easy, it's really just an M.2 E-type port on a PCIe adapter card. Depending on the mobo/case, you might need a splitter for the USB ports, if you only have one header and a couple of things to plug into it.
from completed build First Desktop in a Decade
My setup is nowhere near the cable modem in my house so I needed a wifi adapter; I also use BT headphones during the day while working. This has worked pretty well so far.
from completed build Birthday Build
Easy to use plug and play. I got it because I am not able to have my computer directly hooked up to my modem/router but my internet speeds have been really fast still so I haven't had any issues there. The USB cable has the ugly ketchup/ mustard colors so get some black electrical tape haha. also the antenna could have better maneuverability and definitely a stronger magnet or better base in general because it tries to slide around on my case unless it is sitting up right.
from completed build Don Ton - Mid-range Build 2020
The connection is good when it works, but it may not be the best for competitive gaming. I get lag spikes every so often, but I'm getting a Powerline adapter to see if this item was the problem. Standby.
from completed build Parallelism 2 (college, May 2020, first build)
It was most popular PCPartPicker, so I bought it. Not the best aesthetically but it's pretty hidden under my GPU. The antenna is magnetically mounted to the top of my case next to the top case fan, hidden from view. I don't have an ethernet port near my desk, otherwise I would have gone with a wired adapter.
