Alas, being a fanboy has punched me square in the nads. When I started building the list of materials, I knew I was going to go with an Asus board. Due to my poor networking requirements of needing Wi-Fi where I was living, I thought this would be the ideal solution. Don't get me wrong, this board, if priced at 299, or even 399 would be perfect and some of the flaws could be excused. A few of them are truly my fault due to being a moron with too much money.

It has ample space for an SLI set up. However, by using the Asus ROG STRIX 1080 TI OC editions, you're going to cover up your one M2 drive that is under the plate. Also, the LED lighting on this thing is poor at best, and there were a variety of scratches all over the left RGB header by the IO shield, even prior to taking off the plastic. Again, not an issue on some boards, but for 500 I wanted this thing to be pristine. Certain areas aren't ideal for pin placement, and I think overall Asus tried to get as many things on this board as possible without really thinking through the practical implications.

A few of the other issues is that the flush bios button on the board will fall off and if your case is similar to mine just say goodbye to it forever. The Aura software on this thing is poorly supported to the point the lighting on the board and RAM will randomly be disabled, and it gets the GPU colors wrong when it comes to making things uniform. Installation of the processor is easy enough, but they could have made the visual tell of the proper corner a little more explicit.

TL;DR: A very good motherboard when it comes down to it, but for the money you should be blown away by it. Aura support at launch is meh, installing drivers to interface with the proper antennas is also obnoxious, and one of the m2 drive being wholly inaccessible, specifically when you're using Asus's cards in an SLI set up is, in my opinion, unacceptable. 3.5 stars when price drops, but if you're looking at an enthusiast motherboard, wait for the ROG Extreme.

Great motherboard! Had some growing pains with the early BIOS but all that has been solved! The only thing is that the Live Dash is a little crooked but I can still see it! That would be my only gripe about this board! ASUS really keeps delivering when it comes to their PC hardware! Love those guys!

Had some bios issues in the beginning but my gosh this motherboard ended up being a great buy! Features for days and looks damn good too with the rest of the white I have in my build! Very solid motherboard and proves once again why I love Asus!

Very easy to build. Lots of options going forward. Fantastic instructions (for the most part I still cant figure out the fan extension card), really good BIOS.
