Potential Issues / Incompatibilities

  • Some Intel X79 chipset motherboards may need a BIOS update prior to using Ivy Bridge-E CPUs. Upgrading the BIOS may require a different CPU that is supported by older BIOS revisions.
  • The G.Skill - Trident X 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR3-2800 Memory operating voltage of 1.65 V exceeds the Intel Ivy Bridge-E CPU recommended maximum of 1.5 V+5% (1.575 V). This memory module may run at a reduced clock rate to meet the 1.5 V voltage recommendation, or may require running at a voltage greater than the Intel recommended maximum.
