Lol yeah that's why I don't have any pictures posted from a distance on my 2 builds here
Great! Thanks I'll get that sleeve kit and look at the Ikea parts next time I'm in Houston. Looking forward to your updated pics.
I love your setup! Super clean and great colors too. I need a new desk and yours is the first one I really like - what is the name/model?? Also, did you put the white sleeves on your CPU cooler hoses or did it come that way? I've been wanting to do that with my white build but I can't figure out how. We have the same GPU and I've been wanting to do a vertical mount with it, but I don't want to lose the RGB backplate lighting (silly, I know). So I've been looking for pics of someone's build to see if they would still be noticeable. I've got one channel left in my Hut+ and thought about putting strips behind my monitor, but I like how you put yours around the desk. Did you light those with the Hue+ also or just use a regular RGB line for the desk?
The Define R6 comes with a PSU shroud, vertical GPU mounting options, full tempered glass side panel, and a lot of improvements. It just came out and it's worth a look.
Actually I got one of the 960gb SSD's free and the other one on sale. I haven't gone through the price list yet and fixed all that. Plus the Ryzen CPU and MSI motherboard and half the RAM were free, along with the M.2 drive.
I have really enjoyed the R5 case, and like you I wanted a PSU shroud, which is available at V1Tech for $60 but I'm gonna try building my own from acrylic at this point. Really haven't needed one but I still want to try it and there are some pretty good videos on youtube for that.
yeah I did the same thing and waited on the better coolers....... ended up with a 1080 Ti right before the price hike.
I'm selling an EVGA 1060 6GB on eBay but there's no bids yet. If it doesn't sell I may put it on here.
Ok for some reason this made me think of the braincase tube for Hector the robot on the movie Saturn 3. I was a big fan of that movie back in the day, and if I had your PC I would probably add Hector's little beady-eyed head on to the top, mounted on a desk lamp swing arm lol. Maybe I'm showing my age.
Nice work on that acrylic, btw.
Thank you! I put a few more picture up. Still more to do. I want to try building a PSU shroud out of acrylic, and maybe even doing a full acrylic side panel. I will update with more pics as I get started on it.
The MSI GPU bracket thing is a good idea, but I'm not sure how much it helps. I had picked up a different bracket from Amazon thinking it would be more stiff, but after receiving it I'm not sure it's any better than what I have. I keep a short piece of PVC pipe in the bottom of the case for when I have to move it to the table - I just run that pipe vertically under the end of the card and brace it at the bottom of the case. There's less than 1/8" of fan shroud to work with touching either the pipe or the bracket, so I have to be careful not to lock up the fans (that did happen the first time I turned it on and the only fan running was the first one, until I pulled the brace toward me some to clear the fans.
What is your location?
A 6gb 1060 will hang with the RX 580. I have this card and my friend has the 580, and we get within 1 or 2 FPS of each other in the same games.
Yeah I'm getting those FPS on my Samsung CF791 34" curved 3440x1440 100hz monitor with a 1080 Ti in Ultra.
Ya know.....maybe not. I really like the Sapphire Nitro+ and maybe the PowerColor Devil, for their good triple-slot coolers, but dang the prices on those things are as much as a 1080Ti. And the performance just isn't there compared to Nvidia's card. So I may end up not even using the Freesync on my monitor. I'm using a 6GB 1060 right now with Fast Sync turned on in the Nvidia control panel and it's very smooth. Just seems that it may take Vega another year to get optimized, if ever.
Thanks! Yeah I waited too long to sell that one. Looks like I'll have to go lower still.
Dang I missed out on your 1070 lol. I knew you were holding on to one but I just couldn't sell my cards fast enough to see if you'd part with it. Oh well. Still holding some hope that Vega will start moving soon (if I ever sell my other card, that is.) Happy holidays!
I think I waited too long to sell these cards so my chance to pick up Vega is getting slim lol
;) any time
Hahaha well then maybe so. My Devil water cooled card is on Amazon too, if you want that one too (wink wink nudge nudge)
Ok good. I had it up on Amazon too and it sold there to someone in New York.
Sold it an about an hour ago.
Ok no problem
Lol yeah I hear you. Me too if I can sell these 390X's
I entered a giveaway for the Elite Gaming Computers $800 Parts monthly giveaway. Usually they let the winner choose parts from a bin that come to $800, but this time they built an $800 gaming rig. I wanted a Ryzen system but knew I'd never be able to buy new parts. My friend had to tell me that I won cause I hadn't checked my email. This is the system they gave away (https://youtu.be/uJpVtHjXs5Y)
I made it a lot quieter with a Thermaltake Riing fan on the radiator and I just left it on there when I pulled it and put it back in the box. Came with a huuuge Red Devil mouse mat that was too large for my desk so it's still sealed in the bag inside the case. They even made the box like a Pelican case although it's cardboard it's got that thick foam cutout interior that holds the card, rad, and hoses (it's an AIO). Web site tracked the price down to the last time it was available apparently lol. I didn't want to part with it but Vega calls to me I just can't justify paying for it. I won a Ryzen 5 1600 rig online and it came with a 1060 6GB card, and now this Devil is too big for the new case. I'm sticking with AMD cause of my freesync monitor.
Yes they just stopped Vega reference production so we should see customs before Christmas in volume. I didn't know they were still gonna do the water one - if I had a 64 i would want it on water. Otherwise I might go for 56 and undervolt it. I'm guessing custom variants will be $100 higher than MSRP though as AIB's make more money from their coolers.
My rig is here with some pictures of the Devil card, before I added the XFX card. JayzTwoCents has a good review of it on his YouTube channel. (https://pcpartpicker.com/b/4mbj4D)
Yes but they're not a match. My other one is my Beast. Powercolor Devil R9 390X Hybrid 8GB extreme factory OC @1100 with 120mm radiator/fan. I ran them together for most of this year. Wanted a second Devil but it's a 2.5 slot card (the VRM fan is tilted at 15 degrees to the card for maximum airflow but the tilt meant I could not mount 2 even tho my case had room for both coolers). So I really need to get more $$ for the Devil card as it runs ultra fast and cool and cost me $600 a year ago. If I could get enough for Vega 64 I would gladly sell them. I'm not paying for it right now tho until Supply brings prices back where they belong.
No problem thanks for the reply!
I can't come up with any cash right now sorry. Appreciate your reply tho!
I was gonna say I had that card but no, mine is the XFX 390X 8GB DD card factory OC. Close but not.
so did you get a card and cash for those or just cash? I'm trying to sell my two R9 390X's, each factory overclocked and one on water. I want a Vega card. Too bad I missed this lol.
I've got an EVGA 1060 6GB card, the one with a single fan. It's smaller than your 1080 by half I suspect. I don't have any Polaris cards but I do have an XFX R9 390X Double Dissipation factory overclocked 8GB card - not sure how much smaller than your 1080 that would be though. I'm actually wanting to sell the XFX card for a Vega card but a 1080 would be an upgrade from my 1060 lol.
Yes I believe so. Sorry I've been away for the month
Well my cooler came factory installed on the gpu, and it really cools well. But for the 1070, if you already own the card (and even if you don't ) I hear lots of good things about the EVGA GeForce GTX Hybrid Model 400-HY-5188-B1 all-in-one cooler
My card is the PowerColor Devil AMD 390X 8GB Overclocked
Very clean and white!! Love that motherboard theme (MSI has always made sweet looking mobos.) Cable management is great (much better than mine because I don't have a modular PSU - but I did make mine white with glossy vinyl film wrap.) Speaking of PSU, you have the one I wanted (should it be flipped over with the fan pulling air through the bottom of the case?) I put the two 140mm fans in the front too, but I also mounted the Corsair fans on my H100i GTX for a push/pull scenario. Slightly louder, but I don't have the top panels opened so I can't hear them. The only fans I hear are the ones on the back because my PowerColor Devil 390x is water-cooled and that's where I put my radiator (again, push/pull -- more noise but very good cooling.) If you need to have more airflow, consider putting a 140mm fan in the bottom of the case to pull cool air in and push it straight up to your graphics card. I bought another Fractal fan for this. Also very interesting how you pulled the hoses up out of the way :)
Love to see some pics of the lights!
I like it! Yes this case is amazing - I've built computers for years and this case is by far the best one I've used. If you haven't done any LED lighting yet and are still interested, you may want to check out NZXT's Hue+ system. I've got it in my case and I can't say enough good things about it. Very easy to install and set up, and the software works so well you can have a lot of fun with it. I've only got mine doing static single color and breathing, but it can pretty much do any color and combination you want.
Very nice!!! Love the red/white color theme and I can tell you're a photographer --- pics are nicely done! Interesting CPU cooler too! Well done and very clean.
I like it! We have similar builds using very close parts....interesting. I like your use of purple lighting in the white case as I did with mine.
Alright thank you that will be fine
I don't have the link and I can't upload videos here, but if you search YouTube there are some good demos and Jay from Jaystwocents gave it top marks aa well. Any questions just ask!
Very highly. I've been looking at RGB lighting "kits" for 6 months and had planned on two very basic ones. There's one with a small IR remote made by a few different names and all the reviews are scary as far as operation and lifespan. The other is a breathing circuit alone. Buying both would be cheaper than the Hue+ but the Hue+ can do everything those other 2 can and way more, plus the build quality is exceptional. Nzxt has integrated this into a slick lighting system with several extension cables of different length and a control box that has SSD mounting holes for easy mounting. The software let's you design any kind of effect and also shows all your pc stats. It just works, and it's well designed and thought out. Many people wish the power ran off SATA instead of older Molex, but my psu has molex plugs to spare (an adapter should be easy enough to find). Having 2 channels let's me do both the breathing and the steady effects I wanted with one unit.
I have to agree with that. It's really not hurting anything. Got another pair of RGB strips today from NZXT so I put them underneath the case in "breathing" mode. Their Hue+ system is amazing.
True. I haven't come to that yet, but I've talked to my buddy at work about it who's our plant electrician. I don't like the idea, and right now it's just an idea.
Yeah. And I paid quite a bit more for the case at Christmas due to it being sold out everywhere. It's been a joy to build with except my PSU has 400 feet of cabling and is not modular. Sigh. Needless to say my cable management, which this case does very well, sucks at the moment. I am thinking of cutting out some of the excess wiring.
Actually sold it on Amazon
Yes this is US currency you could probably do better locally especially in shipping
Sorry it is US. Shipping would probably hurt even more so yeah if you can find it lower close to you I'd go for it. I may just end up keeping it anyway as I haven't been able to build my new rig yet.
