Only 128 kb of ram?! Mine has 1024 kb. Blah, blah, blah... lol Kidding. This is awesome and brought back some great memories. I'm looking at some one ebay now. +1
Oh no, the scheme looks good. I was referring to the dog piddling on your other GFX card. I had a good laugh over that one and felt your pain as well.
Nice build, I like the orange case and the er.. um, yellow graphics card. =P +1
Soo beautiful! You did a great job. I'm very impressed with the OCs you were able to get with the CPU and GPUs.
Ah, you're right. It's the 6670 that can be paired with the A8-6500
Looks great but why did you go with a GeForce 730 instead of a R7 250? With the 250, you could have used dual graphics (APU + R7 250).
Wow! This thing is absolutely beautiful. Way to go Kev.
Almost $8k and no 5960x?! Still a +1 from me but daaaamn. lol
Is that a reference ASUS 290? Don't quote me on this but I know some ASUS 290s can be flashed to a 290x. I did it with a XFX Reference before.
+1 for the name and the build but mostly the name.
Nice and quiet, that's awesome! +1
Great build, awesome pictures with good friends. +1
Your pic has a Sapphire graphics card in it but your price list has an EVGA GeForce.
I like spare parts builds. Looks great! +1
Awesome! I was thinking about doing the same thing, all I need is an HD and PSU.
They're pretty much equal. Go for the cheaper one.
WOW! This thing is beautiful and powerful! A note for others, this is what a "Beast" build is.
I would have linked to anandtech but I couldn't find the Athlon x4 760k.
Awesome, thanks guys! It does look awesome for sure and will go great with my blue/black color scheme.
Lourdes, in reply to your question. I have installed a Vapor-X and an EVGA 780 ACX for 2 different friends both computers with identical components.
Aside from benchmarks, I noticed no difference in performance. With the extra Gig of ram in the 290 it may future proof it a bit over the 780.
When both overclocked, the 780 was much quieter than the 290 by about 10 decibels although both ran at about the same temperatures.
I actually came to the forums to ask the same question. Should I get the Sapphire 290 Vapor-X, the EVGA 780 ACX or wait for the AMD 300/Nvidia 800 series to be released.
I'm leaning toward just getting the 290, it's powerful and matches my computer's color scheme =P Although with the announcement of the AMD Tonga being released in August, new cards should be soon on their way. http://wccftech.com/amd-tonga-gpu-arriving-august-replace-tahiti-pro-r9-280/
I have 2 1080p monitors and am currently using a Radeon 3870 (ugh). I had a 560ti but it died about 2 weeks past the warranty expired... This time around I want to go with a near high-end card 290/780 or if I wait, I could save up enough to get a 390x/880(ti?) when released.
Please help make up my mind fellow pickers =)
Thanks for the help guys! Going to take that $120 savings and buy a gtx 780 instead of the 770. The 4670k should hold me over till Broadwell or even Skylake. I'm sure a 4670k + 780 will be a world of difference from a 1st Gen i7 + 5870.
Nice cheap build! That power supply scares me though.
+1 for that awesome cable management! I would give you another +1 for a great budget build if I could.
Sorry, didn't read the wall of text... Your build is very clean and your components are solid. Great job! +1
That's the sexiest build I've seen in a long time. Why didn't you go with the 4960X and Ti's?
I guess it depends on your budget. Personally I would go with the 770.
It's a difference of about 10 fps. About 15 more in Bioshock Infinite.
The 270x beats out the 660 by a slim margin.
Sexy case, great wiring, solid build. Can't say much more than that.
Nice pick on the gpu, they run really cool. Case looks great! How the performance on the CPU compared to the 4th gen i7?
Very nice build, I built one like it a few months ago for my younger brother. Same exact parts except for the case. I also put in a Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO instead of using the stock heatsink/fan. Made a huge difference in heat and noise reduction. Think I bought it for $25 on sale.
