Oh no, the scheme looks good. I was referring to the dog piddling on your other GFX card. I had a good laugh over that one and felt your pain as well.

In2econd's Completed Build: PC Build

Looks great but why did you go with a GeForce 730 instead of a R7 250? With the 250, you could have used dual graphics (APU + R7 250).

Is that a reference ASUS 290? Don't quote me on this but I know some ASUS 290s can be flashed to a 290x. I did it with a XFX Reference before.

Forum Topic "I’m debating whether I should get a 780 or a 290."

DCarnage 1 point 57 months ago

Lourdes, in reply to your question. I have installed a Vapor-X and an EVGA 780 ACX for 2 different friends both computers with identical components.

Aside from benchmarks, I noticed no difference in performance. With the extra Gig of ram in the 290 it may future proof it a bit over the 780.

When both overclocked, the 780 was much quieter than the 290 by about 10 decibels although both ran at about the same temperatures.

Forum Topic "I’m debating whether I should get a 780 or a 290."

DCarnage 1 point 57 months ago

I actually came to the forums to ask the same question. Should I get the Sapphire 290 Vapor-X, the EVGA 780 ACX or wait for the AMD 300/Nvidia 800 series to be released.

I'm leaning toward just getting the 290, it's powerful and matches my computer's color scheme =P Although with the announcement of the AMD Tonga being released in August, new cards should be soon on their way. http://wccftech.com/amd-tonga-gpu-arriving-august-replace-tahiti-pro-r9-280/

I have 2 1080p monitors and am currently using a Radeon 3870 (ugh). I had a 560ti but it died about 2 weeks past the warranty expired... This time around I want to go with a near high-end card 290/780 or if I wait, I could save up enough to get a 390x/880(ti?) when released.

Please help make up my mind fellow pickers =)

Forum Topic "i5 4670k 4.6Ghz Stable for $100 or i5 4690k?"

DCarnage submitter 1 point 58 months ago

Thanks for the help guys! Going to take that $120 savings and buy a gtx 780 instead of the 770. The 4670k should hold me over till Broadwell or even Skylake. I'm sure a 4670k + 780 will be a world of difference from a 1st Gen i7 + 5870.

I guess it depends on your budget. Personally I would go with the 770.

It's a difference of about 10 fps. About 15 more in Bioshock Infinite.

casebuilder's Completed Build: $650 family gaming build.

DCarnage 1 point 61 months ago

Very nice build, I built one like it a few months ago for my younger brother. Same exact parts except for the case. I also put in a Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO instead of using the stock heatsink/fan. Made a huge difference in heat and noise reduction. Think I bought it for $25 on sale.
